There are in Sri Lanka a number of creative young architects who are producing architecture that is comparably with the best in the world. In this book their work is placed alongside acknowledged international master-architects Tadao Ando, Shigeru Ban and Kerry Hill. I have termed them the ‘next generation’ and taking their cue from their immediate predecessors, notably C Anjalendran, Anura Ratnavibushana, Madhura Prematilleke and Vijitha Basnayaka they are creative, inventive, daring and resourceful, in the process contributing to a Sri Lankan architecture appropriate for the 21st century. The book has an introductory essay by David Robson and photographs are by Sebastian Posingis.
