Riverbank Apartments Putney, London 2011

Option 1 is a 20-storey tower. This can be justified on the basis that it is more elegant and would act as a ‘gateway’ to Hammersmith and Fulham from the Southwest. It balances the 19-storey Putney Wharf Tower on the south end of Putney Bridge and would drive regeneration of the area around Putney Bridge Station and form a ‘gateway’ to Hammersmith and Fulham from the southwest.

Option 2 is an 11-storey perimeter block. Apartments are arranged around the perimeter of the triangular site with a central air/light well/atrium. Sky courts are introduced on each side of the floor plan to permit cross ventilation and daylight penetration. Sky gardens are introduced to give view to the River Thames. There are three lift cores arranged at the three corners of the triangular plan.
