Madinat Al Arab District E is located within the Dubai Waterfront development, an extensive residential, commercial and leisure development on the western shores of Dubai . It is potentially the home to 1.5 million people. Llewelyn Davies Yeang were appointed to create an eco-masterplan for the district that comprises 41 plots containing medium to high-rise buildings generating 1.6 million square metres of residential/hotel GFA and 75,000 square metres of retail GFA.

The masterplan includes the design of 14 parks totaling approximately 158,000 square metres of communal open-space in addition to a 1.2 km long beach front, canal side walkways and a harbour-front park. The plan includes communal facilities such as an amphitheatre, an international school, seven clinics, two mosques and a communal hall.
