A Structure Plan Report for Awka and Satelite Towns was prepared by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN Habitat) and the Anambra State Government in 2009. In March 2014 Llewelyn Davies advised the incoming Governor Dr. Willie Obiano and his team on the implementation.
