Bombay Glassworks Tower Mumbai 2011

The intention in the Bombay Glassworks Tower is to create a tropical skyscraper the architectural aesthetic of which is quite unlike and utterly opposed to the hermatically-sealed temperate-climate tower. The form of the tower reflects the open-to-sky-lifestyle in the tropics where one habitually lives at interface between interior and exterior in the so-called ‘in-between’ space.

The form of the tower emerges from a parallel process of:
• Response to site constraints and opportunities including views, existing buildings and future developments, infrastructure and transportation networks, sources of pollution etc.
• Response to the microclimate of the site.
• The client brief and expectations.
• The search for an iconic form that will differentiate the Bombay Glassworks Tower from all other towers in Mumbai.
